Welcome at Domaine Hubert Metz
Our vineyard is located in Blienschwiller, a small village with a strong wine history, in the heart of the Alsace wine road. The “Cave de la Dime”, at the heart of the winery, dates back to 1728 and this wine cellar was the registered place for tax collections on wine (dime) until the French revolution. The family vineyard and this remarkable heritage have been handed down over many generations. Current day family custodians, Hubert, and today his daughter Céline and her friend Jean-Michel, are continuing the tradition with a perfect marriage of age old customs and modern technology in the winery.
The vineyards, surrounding the village are divided into approximately 40 plots, which offer a wealth of terroir and an interesting diversity for their wines, on a total of 10 hectares. . The vineyard is cultivated with sustainable and environmental-friendly practices (integrated viticulture) and is today engaged for organic viticulture (3 years of conversion).. All of this is related to a passion for wine-growing and for the most natural wine-making techniques.
The winery offers the traditional wines, called “Reserve de la Dîme” (Dîme was the tithe that was collected for the church in our celle): Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc; but also the Grand Cru Winzenberg (Riesling, Pinot Gris et Gewurztraminer) thtat reveals purity and minerality; the Cremants d’Alsace (white and rosé) and some new wines ages in barrels (Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc).
